LegalZoom Wants $249 a Year for a Kentucky Street Address
A transparent $99/year for registered agent representation in Kentucky. Address used on filings, same-day legal mail scanning, and compliance reminders are part of the rate.
Disclosure, up front. Kentucky Registered Agent.co makes money when a reader switches to us, and the service we sell is the one being compared. $99 a year is our price. The $249 attached to LegalZoom is LegalZoom's own posted rate, logged during a July 2026 check.
The Brand Is the Product
LegalZoom can charge what it charges for one reason: everybody already knows the name. Two decades of advertising, a public listing, reviews going back further than most of its competitors have existed. Buy from LegalZoom and you skip a whole category of worry about whether the company will still be answering email in 2031.
That is worth something. We are not going to insult anyone who decides it is worth $150 a year.
$249, and No First-Year Softening
Registered agent service at LegalZoom is $249 annually, auto-renewing. Our check found no introductory rate, no bundled year, no cheaper version of the same service. The number is the number, in year one and after.
| Period | LegalZoom | Kentucky Registered Agent.co |
|---|---|---|
| One year | $249 | $99 |
| Four years | $996 | $396 |
| Kept each year by switching | n/a | $150 |
Six hundred dollars across four years. The question is whether the name is doing six hundred dollars of work.
The Renewal Happens Whether You Decide or Not
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereOne published term deserves a second read: that $249 renews automatically. Standard practice in this industry, and openly disclosed.
It also means the default outcome every year is that you keep paying, and the decision to stay never has to be spoken aloud. Ours renews as well. The difference is what the automatic charge comes to.
Letters, Not Numbers
A small Kentucky detail that catches out-of-state buyers off guard. This state codes its business filings with letters. KLC creates an LLC. POC moves a principal office. RAC moves an agent. There is no numbered form anywhere in the system, so searching for one will come up empty.
Kentucky Wrote the Job Description, Not the Vendor
KRS 14A.4-010 sets the standard, and it is short. Your agent is either an individual living in Kentucky or an entity qualified to transact business in the Commonwealth. Either way, the address that agent uses for business has to match the registered office exactly. That office is a physical Kentucky location, open during ordinary business hours. No post office boxes.
One more rule sits in there, and it protects you: nobody becomes your registered agent by accident. The appointee has to sign the document naming them or hand the state a written acceptance. Consent is mandatory, in writing, every time.
Read that list again and notice what is absent. No tier. No premium version. No provision that a more expensive agent receives a summons more thoroughly. Kentucky asks for an address, a person or entity behind it, availability, and written consent. Every provider in this market meets that same bar or does not qualify at all.
The $99 Version
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereSame-day scans. Every summons, every time, imaged and pushed to your portal with an email alert on the day it arrives.
Our Kentucky address on your filings instead of your home address.
One price at signup and the identical price at every renewal, with no upsell menu attached to the checkout page, because we sell exactly one service.
One correction to any "lowest price" reading of that: BetterLegal publishes $90. We sit in the low band of Kentucky annual pricing, not at the bottom of it, and you should hear that from us rather than find it elsewhere.
Dropping LegalZoom From the Kentucky Record
One page and a ten. Kentucky's Statement of Change of Registered Agent and Office, form code RAC, goes to the Kentucky Secretary of State for $10, by mail or through FastTrack; appoint the incoming agent before you file so the record never reads blank, and never cancel the old subscription until the change shows up in the state's business search. Our switching guide walks the whole filing.
That is the entire transaction. Ten dollars to redirect four years of $150 savings.
Form RAC, step by step: how to change your Kentucky agent.
